If you have content within your Academy that you would like to promote to drive more engagement, Recommendations are a great way to make that happen.

Recommended Content will display as a single row carousel of content cards on the Content Overview pages.

Setting Up Recommendations

To get started, you will first need to enable Recommendations and curate the list of content that you wish to promote.

  1. Navigate to your Academy > Settings menu > Recommendations

  2. Enable the Recommended Content widget

If desired, you can also edit the name of the recommendations section

Next, you will want to add the desired content objects to the 'Content' section by clicking '+ Add Content'.

Once you have added content objects, they can be re-ordered by dragging-and-dropping using the stacked lines icon to the left of the Content title.

All content from this list will be displayed in this order to Academy learners. However, there are 2 exceptions, in which case content would not show to a learner:

  1. If the content is segmented in a way which the Learner shouldn't have access

  2. If the learner has previously completed that content

This way the list can be dynamic in the sense that Learners should only see the top recommendations that fit their segmentation rules and their completion history.

Updating the Theming for Content Recommendations

You also have the ability to customize the theming for the Recommendations carousel widget.

Navigate to your Academy > Theming > Theme Editor > Content Overview Pages tab

In the left-hand menu, you should now see settings for the following:

  1. Background color

  2. Title color

  3. Link color

  4. Arrow style

The 'View All Content' link will take learners to the Catalog if it is enabled within your Academy. See the Catalog help article for more information.

FAQ

  • Will the entire recommendations content list display to all learners?

    • Yes, unless the learner has completed the content previously, or if that content has visibility/segmentation rules that don't apply to the individual learner.

  • What pages does the Recommendations widget display?

    • For the first iteration of recommended content, this widget will display on the content overview pages (after a learner clicks on a guide, path or certification).
