Setting Up Multi-language Simulations

Making a Practice roleplay available in more than one language

Written by Sam Benson

Practice simulations can run in multiple languages, with learners choosing which one they want at the start of their session. This article covers how to add languages as an author, and what the learner sees.

Adding a language

In Set the Scene, under Advanced > Supported Languages, select Add Language.

Search for the language you want, or scroll the list. Tick as many as you need, then select Add.

📌 Note: The list shown is filtered by your simulation's Role-play Mode - languages that don't support the mode you've chosen (Voice Call or Chat) won't appear here.

Reviewing the translation

Once added, each language needs its content translated - the character's dialogue, greetings, and background all need a version in that language, not just the interface.

Select a language to open Review translation. Each field shows the source (English) next to its translation, with a confidence score from the verifier next to each one.

Click any translation cell to edit it directly. Tick a field to queue it for re-translation, or use Re-translate with AI on an individual field if the AI-generated version needs another pass.

💡 Tip
Check the confidence score for each field, not just the overall Character score - a high overall score can still hide a lower-confidence individual line worth a manual look.

What the learner sees

If more than one language is available, learners are asked to choose their preferred language before starting the session.

Languages still being translated show as Not yet published and can't be selected yet.

📌 Note: Once a learner picks a language, it's locked in for that session - if they switch to English partway through, the character will continue in the language they originally chose.
