Now that your Customer Learning Cloud Hub has a Community, you may want to restrict access to that Community to only specific audiences. This may be to restrict your Community to only specific segments, like Customers and Partners, or you may want to block users from the Community if they have violated your code of conduct.
Before you setup Community Access Controls, make sure you have the Segments you need setup (you can update segments by going to Contacts>>Segments).
Go to the Community Settings tab to get started. In order to restrict your Community, you need to first set your Access toggle to require contact to be logged in. Once that toggle is enabled, you will see the option to Edit Access Settings.
Once you select Edit Access Settings, you will see 3 options:
Visible to all contacts - this is the default setting and allows anyone who has logged in to access the Community.
Visible to specific segments - this setting allows you to limit the Community to only specific segments.
This option would be used if you wanted to limit your Community to ONLY customers and partners
Exclude specific segments - this setting allows you to restrict visibility for only specified segments.
This option would be used if you wanted to create a “Blocked Community User” segment for users that violated Community standards but still needed access to the Academy
Once you set your Access Controls, if a user who does not have access to your Community tries to access a Community link, they will view a page with your Registration Page theming that lets them know they do not have access to the Community
