Skills in WorkRamp are a system for organizations to add customizable skills to their Employee LMS, map learning content to those Skills, allow learners to discovery content for upskilling, then access that Skills data in the WorkRamp Report Builder.
Getting Started
To get started, navigate to the Skills page in your Admin Console at Settings > Skills.
Click the "Add" button to get started.
While Categories are optional, if you know you will eventually use them, we recommend adding Categories before adding Skills, you can always change the names later, but setting up this relationship will help you organize the skills.
Adding Categories
Add one or more categories by typing (comma separated values accepted) and pressing enter. When you see them appear in the drawer as a list, you can click "Add" at the bottom of the drawer.
Adding Skills
To add Skills, click the "Add" button again and then choose "Add Skills" to open the Add Skill drawer.
Select the Category (optional) you would like to add Skills to and then start typing out the skills you want to add, or you can paste in comma separated values to bulk add skills:
Press enter when you are done typing or pasting in your skills. You will then see the skills appear as a list, which you can now add, using the "Add" button at the bottom of the drawer:
Managing Skills
Return to the Skills page, and use the Skills and Categories tables to view the skills you have added, see which Category they are a part of and how many locations they are used in. "Total Locations" represents the total number of Trainings that are mapped to each skill.
You can edit to rename, re-categorize or delete the skills as needed.
Mapping Content to Skills
Now that you've got your Skills added to your WorkRamp instance, it's time to map the trainings you have in WorkRamp to each of these Skills.
From any content overview page, slick the overflow menu in the top right of the page, and find the menu item "Skills":
This will open a modal, where you can select the Skills that are available in your WorkRamp instance. Click "Save" after you have added the skills you want to map to this content.
Note: unlike Tags, Skills cannot be added on-demand, an Admin who has access to Settings must add them before content creators can map their content to already created Skills.
Viewing Skills as a Learner
Learners will see Skills as part of the metadata in each training card that can be viewed from their Assignments or in Libraries next to a lightbulb icon.
They will also be able to search for content by searching skills in the Library search bar, or by utilizing the Skills filter in Libraries. Learners can also filter by and search for content by Skills in the Learner search bar.
Reporting on Skills
Admins with Reporting access can navigate to the Report builder to build reports using the Skills data, to help them understand how much progress Learners are making against training mapped to these Skills.
Here is an example report that shows a Trainings report filtered by a single Skill:
Here is an example report that shows a Trainings report grouped by Skills, showing aggregate data across the organization for the entire set of Skills:
