Managing Ungated Content for Logged Out Users

Ungated Content will allow your Academy website visitors to access and view Guide and Resource content without requiring the user to log in or create an account.

Enabling Ungated Content

Content can be made visible to logged out users on an individual Guide or Resource level, or at the Path or Certification level.

Note: Enabling a Path or Certification to be visible to Logged Out users will make ALL Guides and Resources within that Path or Certification visible through the Path or Certification object.

Due to the nature of SCORM content, we do not allow logged out users to access SCORM courses at this time.

Guides & Resources (from Collections)

  1. Navigate to your Academy

  2. Click on Content > Collections

  3. Click on a Collection > Modules

  4. Click the 'people'/visibility icon under the 'Segments' column next to a Guide or Resource

  5. Select 'Visible to all users' then check the box next to 'Visible to logged out users'

Guides & Resources (from Custom Pages)

  1. Navigate to your Academy

  2. Click on Pages > Custom Pages

  3. Click on the Title of the Custom Page

  4. Click on the elipsis (three dots) menu icon next to a Guide or Resource

  5. Click 'Visibility Settings'

  6. Select 'Visible to all users' then check the box next to 'Visible to logged out users'

Paths

  1. Navigate to your Academy

  2. Click on Content > Paths

  3. Click on the Title of a Path

  4. Scroll down to the 'Visibility' section within the Path Settings

  5. Select 'Visible to all' then check the box next to 'Visible to logged out users'

Certifications

  1. Navigate to your Academy

  2. Click on Content > Certifications

  3. Click on the Title of a Certification

  4. Scroll down to the 'Visibility' section within the Certification Settings

  5. Select 'Visible to all' then check the box next to 'Visible to logged out users'

Note: Events already provide the ability to allow access without logging in to the academy.

Learner Experience

If content is made visible to logged out users, the user will see a 'Preview' button instead of 'Get Started'.

All of the content within the Guide or Resource will be available for the learner to view and consume, but any submission objects (quiz questions, file uploads, etc.) will be inaccessible.

FAQ

  • Will content be made available for logged out users by default?

    • No - the default state will not change (Visible to All, not visible to logged out users).

    • The only caveat to this is if a Path or Certification is visible to logged out users, any Guides or Resources added/included will also be visible to logged out users.

  • What analytics will we have access to for logged out users?

    • Similarly to how we manage Events for logged out users, and given the fact that data tracked is on a user, content and enrollment basis, no data will be tracked initially. You can think of it like website traffic.

    • Third-party web analytics tools can be leveraged for more detailed site visits and traffic data.
