Content Objects

When creating a guide you have many options for incorporating content:

  • Text (most common)

  • Attach File

  • Upload Video

  • Record Video

  • Record with Zoom

  • Audio

  • Image

Text Field

Using the Text object gives you the versatility to bold, italicize, and underline your text. Additionally, you can add links, images, and videos.  These are just a few options you have available in the Text toolbar. One of our favorites is the ability to add images and resize them!

Note: When adding images to the Text field, we highly recommend uploading the image file and not pasting the images in as images pasted in can disappear depending on the origin of the photo.

Attach File

Attach a file for Learners to review or download for future reference. When you attach file like a PDF, learners can preview and refer back to them as they work their way through their assigned guide.

These files types will not generate a download link:

Images: ['gif', 'jpeg', 'jpg', 'png']

Videos: ['flv', 'mp4', 'webm']

The following will load with download link: 'doc', 'docx', 'md', 'pdf', 'ppt', 'pptx', 'txt', 'xls', 'xlsx'.

Upload Video

Upload a video that you want to display in your content.  The following are some features of the video uploader:

  • Enable downloading: ensures Learners are able to download the video to save it for later or add it to their files. Note: the default is enabled

  • Full watch required: ensures that Learners must watch the video in full, without the ability to skip ahead or adjust the playback speed

  • Remove playback speed settings: removes the ability for Learners to adjust the playback speed (removing ability to set at 2x)

Once your video is uploaded, you will see two additional options below the video display.

  1. Upload Video Thumbnail: By default, the video thumbnail uses the first frame of the video. If you would to use a different image, use this option to upload a specific video thumbnail image.

  2. Closed Captioning: The option to upload captions for your video, see details in this help article.

Our recommended ratio for uploaded videos are:

  • 1280 x 780 as a thumbnail

  • 1920 x 1080 without a black border around the video

Record Video

When you click on Record Video the video screen will appear in the same browser.

  • This means you don't have to leave the current page to record a video for your Learners

  • You'll also have the option to download this video for later if you choose to include it in other guides

Note: With the Record Video object you are unable to share your screen with Learners, but don't worry, we have that covered too. Read on!

Record with Zoom

Do you have Zoom installed on your computer? Great! Some things to note when using the "Record with Zoom" feature:

  • When you click "Start Zoom Recording Now" the Zoom application will launch automatically

  • Pause your recording at any time, and share your screen with the Learner to give them a better idea of what you are referencing

  • Once you are done recording, your video will directly save into your Zoom content object

  • If you think you messed up, don't worry! Give it another shot! You have the option to re-record after the video has been uploaded to the system.

Note: If you do not have Zoom installed on your computer currently, then simply click here to download.

Audio

Does your team have a library of recorded calls or even a voice-over for a powerpoint deck? This is a great feature to have users listen to if you don't have video content.

Image

The Image object is very simple and easy to use. This object allows you to insert images, upload videos, GIFs, etc. You can have a lot of fun with this and make your content more entertaining for Learners.

Embed

The Embed Object is an amazing tool that gives your content flexibility to bring other web pages directly into your training.

It works exactly like the browser you're in right now, so documents/videos from Google Drive, LinkedIn Learning, Box, or password protected sites can also be embedded in training to take users to the direct page. This even works with Youtube Videos!

Note: If the URL does not allow embedding (x-frame-options), then you will receive the following message:

Flip Card

The Flip Card object is an easy way to ask a question and provide an answer on the back of the card.

Callout

The Callout object is great for highlighting an important message or a warning for the learner. The dropdown menu will give you four different options:

  • Important

  • Info

  • Tip

  • Warning

Here is an example of an Important Callout:

For all objects, you will be able to add a comment to collaborate with other content creators. To learn more about our content collaboration feature, please see our help article

FAQs:

  1. With the recent update in November to the Text box, is it possible to change the font?

    1. Font selection is not included in the recent update. All other functionality previously offered remains intact.

  2. In the Text box, does the custom font color selection hold across blocks, guides, & users?

    1. If User A selects a custom color from the color picker, it will persist on their color selector across blocks and guides. These selections are user-specific, so they will not appear across users.

    2. These are cookie-based, so selections will vanish if the users browser memory is cleared.

  3. I'm trying to attach a file but nothing pops up for me to select the file.

    1. Your browser may need to be updated to the latest version. You can update it by going to your Browser settings.
